So what do you guys think art really is?
Is it real?
Is it bullshit?
is it everything?
Is it nothing?
Is it just something?
This class is driving me mad ._.
Is it real? How couldn’t it be. Bullshit? Often, but that isn’t the point. Art’s subjectivity disallows that. In fact art isn’t even up to the artist. It’s a conversation that starts with brushstrokes, or flashbulbs, and continues with being seen, talked about, etc. when does it end? Hopefully it doesn’t. But when it does it’s quietly, either because time forgot it, or because the artist never shared it, which is a surely sadder way to reach the same outcome. Art can be an expression of something from the artist, but finding out what that something is isn’t the viewer’s concern. What the viewer makes of it is just as, if not more, important. I could paint you “love” and you could see “pain.” And for that reason, and many others, many things are arts. From love to shoe-making. To taking a picture, which is an art, like many, that argues that an individual’s perspective is important, which is at the core of art itself. The truth is, art is an enigmatic lot of things, great and terrible, and defining it almost feels like betraying it.
